Speed Limit Reduction Survey

Date: Thursday 18th May 2017

Council has been in discussions with the State Government around the maintenance and upgrading of the Tasman Highway, which is a State owned road.

While Council will continue to lobby the State Government to upgrade the road with emphasis placed on a growing visitor market using the road, in the interim, a reduction in speed limit for the section from Basin Creek north to St Helens has been proposed.

The State Government, RACT, Council and Tasmanian Police are all in agreement that this section could be reduced from 100km to 80km. In fact it has been observed that this is the speed drivers generally drive this section. However, before a decision is made, Council would like to seek the input of the community to ensure we are all in agreement.

This Survey will close on Friday June 2nd, 2017 at 12 midnight.
