MAJOR WORKS REPORT AS AT 9 NOVEMBER 2009

  

CAPITAL WORKS

COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT PROJECTS
  • "Walk in Time" project is nearing completion (awaiting Plaques).

  • Binalong Bay car-park works are progressing.

  • Beaumaris walkway between Freshwater Court and Wrinklers Lagoon is complete. The works crew will apply a seal to this as soon as weather permits.

  • Wombat Walk bridge - The bridge is in place and footpath works underway.

  • Ansons Bay - seats underway.

  • Falmouth Park - underground power in place, bollards will be installed.

  

BRIDGE-WORKS

Wombat Walk foot-bridge has been completed.

 

ROAD WORKS

Repair works are being undertaken on a number of roads to repair damage caused by the recent high rainfall. 

Resheeting works have been undertaken on the following roads/areas:

  • Terryvale Road
  • Sections of Argonaut Road
  • Mathinna Plains Road
  • Upper Esk Road
  • Roses Tier Road
  • Falmouth Streets
  • Harefield Road

  

OTHER WORKS FOR THE PERIOD

Extensive drainage works have been completed in the Four Mile Creek areas and Deals Road.

Stormwater maintenance works have been carried out on extensive infrastructure in the Stieglitz area.

St Helens Streetscape are progressing between Hillys supermarket and Mitre 10.

Patch sealing works completed at the St Helens History and Visitor Centre / Service Tasmania car park.

Subdivisions:

Old Mill:                               On maintenance, some items still outstanding.
Scamander Ave (Rrand):        Work is continuing.
Scamander Sanctuary:           Work is continuing.

  

MISCELLANEOUS WORKS

  • A clean up of all Waste Transfer Stations is continuing.

  

MAIN WORKS PLAN FOR COMING PERIOD

  • Continue to clean up flood and storm affected infrastructure.
  • Continue Community Infrastructure Grant projects.
  • Seal newly constructed footpath at Beaumaris.
  • Continue planning of St Marys streetscape project.
  • Continue planning of Roads to Recovery (RTR) project (Binalong Bay Road).
  • Continue St Helens streetscape works.

 

PLANT REPLACEMENT

Council recently advertised for the supply and delivery of 1 x 10 yard truck to be based at the Fingal Works Depot. 

The new truck will replace 2 older 10 yard truck that are due for replacement. Tenders received ranged from $115,00.00 - $238,000.00. (with and without trade prices).  After evaluation of the tenders, the most suitable for Council requirements and within budget is a MACK (Granite) truck priced at $194,600.00 including GST with trading 1 of the trucks.

A separate private offer from East Coast Skips for the the 2nd truck was received for $35,100.00 making the total cost to Council of $159,500.00.

 

INFORMATION

Council has been successful in securing a Grant to help fund a cycleway on the Binalong Bay Road, between Colchers Creek and George River. The Grant funding is up to $100,00.00 (dollar for dollar).  We will now begin negotiating a funding agreement and prepare plans etc.
