Information for Permit Holders
Inspections are to be arranged with the Building Surveyor, or their delegate, 24 hours prior to reaching any of the stages listed on the Certificate of Likely Compliance.

- The Owner is responsible for identifying the property boundaries.
- The Builder is responsible for the workmanship of the job and materials, even though the Building Surveyor may inspect the works. Where the Builder is the Owner the Owner is responsible.
- The permit holder is responsible for the provision of toilet facilities for the workers on site. To be positioned on site so as not to cause neighbouring properties a nuisance. Toilet facilities are to be operational prior to commencement of building work.
- The Owner and Builder are responsible for compliance with Work Place Standards regulations providing for a safe working environment and safe practices of work.
- Building work must be commenced within 12 months from the date on the Permit. If this is unachievable, then a written request for an extension of time for the commencement will be required and the appropriate fee paid.
- Building work must be completed within 2 years from the date on the Permit. If this is unachievable then a written request for an extension of time for completion will be required and the appropriate fee paid.
- If the permit period referred to above lapses then a new application will be required and new fees paid. Assessment will then be made to the current Building Act and Planning Scheme.
ISSUING OF CERTIFICATES
Occupation of a building prior to the issue of an Occupancy Permit is illegal. Occupants will be subject to penalty under the Building Act 2000.
A Certificate of Completion is required to be issued on ALL permits when the work is completed. Where Certificates of Completion are not issued, difficulties may occur with the future sale, re-financing of your property and/or the purchase of Housing Indemnity Insurance.
Additional fees and charges will be incurred if Occupancy Permits and /or Certifcates of Completion are not issued within the life of the permit.
Adequate protection is to be provided to ensure damage is not caused to any roadway, driveway, kerb, footpath, or nature strip. ANY DAMAGE WILL BE THE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPLICANT, (THE PERSON/COMPANY THE PERMIT IS ISSUED TO).
