A person must notify Council not less than 2 working days prior to the installation of a heater or similar appliance which burns oil or solid fuel. Building Regulation 50(1). You can obtain a Heating Appliance Installation Notification from Council.
A person who undertakes the installation must notify Council that the installation has been carried out in accordance with the Building Code of Australia within 7 days of completion of the installation. Building Regulation 50(2). You can obtain a Heating Appliance Compliance Certificate from Council.
The Council may inspect or have inspection made of the installation and require that the installation be made to comply with the Building Code of Australia. Building Regulation 50(4).
