From the mountain to the sea - Break O'Day Council

Planning Application Guide

Welcome to the Break O'Day Council Application Guide.  This guide was funded by the Break O'Day Council and is a free service to aid developers with planning applications within the Break O'Day.  The guide is specific to planning within the Break O'Day Municipality and provides a unique, step-by-step, tool to help applicants prepare an application to Council.  Whether you're planning a dwelling addition or want to subdivide, this guide will be a beneficial tool for you.

Purpose of the guide

The guide is designed to help users prepare and submit an application for planning approval.

Preparing an application takes considerable time and expertise, and delays in getting an approval can result in substantial extra costs to developers, builders and the public.  Also, poorly documented applications are a strain on Council's resources.  On a national scale, the Property Council of Australia estimates that these delays cost the economy $4 billion per annum.

Savings to both the public and Council can be achieved by helping applicants prepare better applications.

About the Guide

The guide is focused on customers and on providing them with online access to the information, guidance and tools required to prepare a planning application.

It also gives some information about the Break O'Day Council Planning Scheme and its operation.  Additional information is provided on useful planning resources such as energy efficiency, water conservation and bushfire protection.
