Council does not intervene in disputes between neighbours over boundary fences. The legislation which applies to boundary fences is the Boundary Fences Act 1908. This act is not administered by Council.

The building of fences may require a planning permit and/or a building permit. This will depend on the height of the fence, form of construction and boundary position. Please speak with Council's planning and building departments before beginning any works.
