Property Sales for Unpaid Rates
Section 137 of the Local Government Act allows Council to sell properties for unpaid rates, we don’t like having to take this action however it does become necessary on occassion.
The process begins with the advertising and notification to owner/s of properties that fall under this section of the act, the owners have ninety (90) days in which to pay the rates and any charges in full. Should the outstanding rates remain unpaid at the end of the ninety (90) day period, Council may sell the property at auction. An auction is not held every year, it all depends on the number of properties (if any) that may be in this situation.
There are currently no properties advertised.
